If you want to explore the most beautiful landscapes of Mongolia and experience its unique history at the same time — the LAND OF CHINGGIS tour has it all! You will ride through endless steppes, mountains, sand dunes, rivers, nomadic families and the breathtaking Erdene Zuu monastery, the earliest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, next to Kharkhorin, the ancient Mongolian capital. Last but not least this tour also includes one day of pure sand dune riding in Elsen Tasarkhai. With 1,270km, the Orkhon is the longest river in Mongolia and is home to many species of fish. There are many rocks and boulders around the river as well as smaller waterfalls and the famous Ulaan-tsutgalan waterfall, the biggest in Mongolia at 26m high. This tour is 90% off-road.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

WELCOME

You will be picked up from the airport and checked in to UB Grand Hotel right in the city center next to Chinggis Khaan Square (unless you have selected a different hotel during the booking). During the afternoon all riders will meet our team, receive a safety briefing and gear fitting for the tour. Big welcome dinner that evening.

DAY 2

350KM

RIDING DAY

Breakfast at your hotel with an early pick-up at around 7:30, taking you to our hangar from where we will start riding right away. We will ride to the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes and you will sleep over at our magical Husky Lodge. A camel or horseback sunset ride is waiting for you if you are up for it, followed by some bonfire and stargazing.

DAY 3

UURTIIN TOKHOI

During the morning we will enjoy riding in the sand dunes. We will continue our tour to the next destination, the Orkhon River Valley via Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongol empire. The Orkhon valley landscape will blow your mind. We will continue to the ger camp (Talibun), located next to a scenic canyon of the Orkhon River.

DAY 4

TSENKHER HOT SPRING

We start heading towards the Orkhon Waterfall, one of the most beautiful places in Mongolia. Lunch is planned right next to the waterfall. In the afternoon we will continue our trip to Tsenkher hot spring, where you can relax your muscles in a hot spa and open-air hot swimming pool at Khangai resort camp.

DAY 5

UGII LAKE

We will start heading to Ugii Lake by crossing the endless-seeming steppe. Ugii Lake is a freshwater lake famous for fishing and birdlife. Enjoy the rest of the day swimming, relaxing by the lake and a nice BBQ dinner under a carpet of stars. We will sleep in our tents if the weather allows it, alternatively in ger accommodation.

DAY 6

KHUSTAI NATIONAL PARK

The tour will continue heading to the Khustai National Park, the place where the successful reintroduction of the Przewalski's horse happened. The park covers more than 50,000 hectares and is home to a remarkable range of wildlife.

DAY 7

90KM

RIDING BACK TO ULAANBAATAR

Time to get back to Ulaanbaatar. When we return to the city, we will have a short break and shower time, then meet at Ulaanbaatar's best hot pot restaurant for a farewell dinner. Whoever has the energy to continue is welcome to enjoy the city's nightlife — we will show you the best places to go.
